PI Studios a été fondé en 2002 par Robert Erwin, John Faulkenbury, Rob Heironimus, Dan Kramer et Peter Mack. La société se localise à Houston, au Texas.
Le premier projet commercial de PI Studios a été l'extention Call of Duty: United Offensive et une contribution aux versions Xbox et PC sur Call of Duty 2. Ils ont aussi travaillé avec Gray Matter et Treyarch Invention sur Call of Duty: Big Red One et Call of Duty 3. Et sur le Call of Duty 3 Bravo Map Pack avec Activision, Treyarch et Infinity Ward.
En 2008, PI Studios travaille sur le développement du jeu Wolfenstein pour PS3, 360 et PC avec id Software et Raven Software. Ils développent aussi Rock Band pour PlayStation 2 et Nintendo Wii. Il développent aussi Quake Arena Arcade pour Xbox 360 Live Arcade avec id Software et Microsoft (annonce ici).
Auparavent, PI Studio a travaillé sur Halo2 pour Windows Vista, ils ont créé 2 nouvelles maps multijoueur (District et Uplift), ainsi qu'un outil pour faciliter la création de maps pour Halo2.
Ils ont aussi travaillé sur Mercenaries 2: World in Flames pour PS2 avec Pandemic Studios et Electronic Arts.
